Inspirations

This is a page dedicated to the artists that I listen to and take inspiration from for my music.

IM

Infected Mushroom

I have to start this off with the group that has been my biggest influence in music creation since the beginning, Infected Mushroom. Back in middle school I used to really only listen to a few random songs, and some video game soundtracks, I wasn't really that into music in general. That was until early 2018, where I found the Monstercat YouTube upload of the song Spitfire. This song blew me away, I had never heard anything like it before. Very soon after, the algorithm started throwing at me old uploads of a few of their songs, specifically the songs Saeed, the Black Shawarma title track, and Bass Nipple. I spent the summer of 2018 going through their discography, eventually listening to their albums Return to the Sauce, Friends on Mushrooms, Vicious Delicious, Army of Mushrooms, and Classical Mushroom. They had very quickly become my favorite music act and continue to be to this day, though they have tough competition now. By the time 2019 rolled around I had already begun my exploration into Synthwave and that scene, but in the end I always came back to IM. I even created an unofficial discord server that still is alive to this day (though I am no longer the owner). As time went on I ended up going through their entire discography (even the more rare and obscure tracks), and quite a few tracks stood out to me specifically. Those tracks include Nutmeg, Dancing with Kadafi, Bust a Move, Saeed, Heavyweight, Send me an Angel, and Walking On The Moon. These are probably the tracks I have been the most influenced by. I even use their I Wish and Manipulator plugins through out Fallen World and Twilight Sky. However, due to events in the ladder half of 2023 and IM being an Israeli act, I don't really support them monetarily. Despite this, they are still influential to my music and will most likely be for a long time.

VP

Vylet Pony

I will admit, I was one of those people that didn’t think a My Little Pony fan artist could make something that I thought was worthwhile, good god was I wrong. I first heard of Vylet Pony when one of my friends got really into her album Fish Whisperer, as it had just come out. I didn’t even give the album a listen, I just dismissed it because it was pony music and moved on. Over a year later, another one of my friends gets really into her music, and at this moment I give her a quick listen. I checked out Fish Whisperer and listened to a bit of Carousel, I didn’t like what I heard. I tried again to get into her music with Girls Who Are Wizards, which I did like more due to it being a 2010’s inspired brostep album, but it still didn’t grip me. However, around April of 2025, it finally clicked for me. I listened to all of Fish Whisperer, Cutiemarks, and Carousel and loved all of them, especially Fish Whisperer. I started going through her discography (mainly her post 2020 stuff) and very quickly got obsessed. Though, I will say, it fully hit me how amazing of an artist Vylet was when I finally listened to the album that everyone now knows her for, Monarch of Monsters. To put it lightly, after the trauma I had from going through 2024, Monarch of Monsters hit me like a fucking brick. Vylet is able to effortlessly weave through so many different genres and styles, while telling such beautiful stories with amazing lyrics and extra media that make each album feel like a collage of human experiences. I had already been exploring the idea of doing more with my music, like adding characters and stories, but Vylet showed me that it was not only possible, but that it was fucking amazing. Monarch of Monsters is now my favorite album of all time, and I don’t see that changing soon. Also yes, I do need to watch all of My Little Pony Gen 4.

Death's Dynamic Shroud

Death’s Dynamic Shroud are unlike any other group I have ever seen, both with their music and as people.I hadn’t really fully dived into Vaporwave much over the years, with the exception of FM Skyline and especially Windows 96. In early 2024 I started listening to George Clanton because of his song Bleed, after Spotify threw the song at me randomly. I liked that song a lot and started to look into artists that were similar to him, which led to me seeing Death’s Dynamic Shroud. The aesthetic of their album covers were all over the place, some of them were what I would expect from vaporwave, some were completely different. The first album I listened to from them was Midnight Tangerine, which isn’t a vaporwave album at all. Immediately I knew these guys were something special, and instantly dug through their discography. The albums that I grew to love the most were Transcendence Bot, Faith in Persona, Live From Japan, Regret, and Darklife. The songs that spoke to me the most were Butterflies and Bae, especially the Live From Japan versions, with Bae sampling the song The Oh of Pleasure by Ray Lynch, a song from my childhood. I have never gotten so obsessed with a band so quickly, the interesting use of samples, range of styles, and the consistency of their releases was unlike anything I had ever seen. The fact they are able to release an album every single month is amazing. DDS gave me a lot of comfort and something to ground myself with during 2024, and I will always remember them for that. I want to one day make a concept album with heavy use of vocals, something similar to Darklife, it’s my current long term goal. DDS have made their impact on me and after talking to Tech and James a couple of times in their discord server, I respect them as people as well.

Justice

Justice

Like most EDM producers from the past 2 decades, Justice’s first album Cross is extremely influential to me. The first time I heard Waters of Nazareth back in high school was a defining moment for me. The aggressiveness, grit, groove, and attitude of this album fried my brain. This album was my favorite album of all time for years, and it was one of my main influences when I first started making music. Cross, Woman World Wide, and Planisphere were on repeat back then, and I still love them a lot to this day. Hyperdrama as well has a few songs on it that have influenced me, mainly Neverender and Afterimage. A lot of my early sound design was directly inspired from the sound of their early songs, you can hear this a lot with The Heart of a Dark Future. I don’t have that much to say about them that hasn’t been said already, I’ll just say watch their documentary A Cross the Universe it’s a god damn fever dream.

CB

Carpenter Brut

This one should be obvious if you have listened to Fallen World. I was introduced to Synthwave in the middle of 2018 by Lazerhawk, but didn't really fully take a deep dive into the genre until the next year. I found Dan Terminus who introduced me to the world of Darksynth, and that lead me down a track to finding the song Rollar Mobster. To say I was blown away instantly would be an understatement. The aggression was unlike anything I had heard before, it was almost like metal yet still was very electronic in it's execution. Very quickly Trilogy become one of my favorite albums of all time, and Carpenter Brut was up there with Infected Mushroom and Justice. I don't fully click with the rest of Carpenter Brut's discography though, and this fact is one of the reasons why I started making music in the first place, I wanted to keep making music like Trilogy. This is why a lot of my 2020 - 2024 era stuff had a heavy emphisis on Darksynth and Synthwave. It wasn't until recently that I have started to move away from trying to sound like him. I will say however, I'm not done making Darksynth. I am planning on making an EP that goes fully into Darksynth again with everything I have learned over the years, I won't give any more information than that.

d5

deadmau5

Deadmau5 was always an artist I knew existed, but never went out of my way to listen to. I grew up somehow always recognizing that damn mouse head of his, probably because I was growing up during the early 2010s at the peak of his popularity. I didn't start to listen to his music myself until I heard the songs I Remember and Professional Greifers. Both of these songs really spoke to me, but for some reason I couldn't find myself really getting into anything else from his discography. That was until early 2021, where I became obsessed with 4x4=12 out of nowhere, especially the songs Bad Selection, City in Flordia, and Cthulhu Sleeps. I then started to really take a deep dive through his discog, falling in love with Random Album Title specificlly. I remember listening to that album a lot when I would play VRChat (I had full body tracking and everything it was bad lol), so I really connect this album with the experiences I had there. The two songs I have made that are the most inspired by deadmau5 are Reprise and Illuminated Shadows. I have a ton of project files where I have been trying to emulate his style, mainly his 2006 - 2009 era stuff, maybe one day I will be able to release an EP that gives the same vibes.
